Drug Transporters

If the test item and metabolites are subject to active efflux and uptake processes in the body (hepatic metabolism, biliary excretion and/or renal excretion) it will be necessary to identify the transporters involved.  In addition, all new drugs must be tested to determine if they inhibit the major drug transporters.

  • Efflux drug transporters: P-gp, BCRP and BSEP
  • Uptake drug transporters: OATP1B1, OATP1B3, OCT1, OCT2, OAT1, OAT3, MATE1 and MATE2-K

Envigo has a specialist group conducting transporter interaction testing using primary and transfected cells and vesicles as appropriate.
